The Beauty of Simplicity

Updated: Dec 17

It all started with my gyno telling me to try and stop wearing lipstick, makeup in general, doing my nails, relaxing my hair, and a long list of other things I should avoid.

I left the appointment telling my husband how crazy I thought the whole thing was. I mean, I enjoyed getting my nails done...and lipstick? Come on.

Then I started researching. One article led to another, and I fell down a rabbit hole I've never really climbed out of. I became obsessed with reading ingredient labels. Suddenly, everything I put on my skin mattered in a way it never had before.

The more I looked, the more I realised how many products, even ones made for children, were filled with unnecessary and sometimes harmful ingredients. It made me wonder why this was so normal, and whether there was not a simpler, safer way.

That’s what led me to create something radically simple: whipped shea butter made with just two ingredients.

The Power of Simplicity

After spending a decade working in Tanzania, I couldn’t help but notice how naturally radiant everyone’s skin was, even without elaborate skincare routines. People did less. There was no toner, no layering, no night routine. Just simple care. That stuck with me and made me wonder if doing less was actually the answer.

I had used shea butter before, but I couldn’t imagine using traditional shea butter on a newborn. It’s hard, thick, and takes a lot of rubbing to warm up. After more research and plenty of trial and error, what is now Harmony & Jay Shea Butter was born. A smooth, extremely pure, organic shea butter that melts into the skin and glides on effortlessly, even on the most delicate skin, like a newborn’s.

Two Ingredients

Pure Shea Butter

Derived from the nuts of the shea tree in West Africa, shea butter is packed with vitamins A, E, and F. It doesn't just sit on top of your skin, it actually nourishes it from within. It's naturally anti-inflammatory, deeply moisturizing, and has been trusted for centuries.

Coconut Oil

This is what makes my whipped shea butter so special. Coconut oil locks in moisture, has antibacterial properties, and gives the butter that light, fluffy texture that melts into your skin. No greasy residue, just pure hydration.

That's it. Two ingredients. Both natural. Both pronounceable. Both safe enough that I use them on my own children every single day.

Have questions about my whipped shea butter or want to know more about these ingredients? Drop me a message. I am always happy to chat about what goes into these little jars of goodness.
